today’s message Reboot
today’s message Reboot
Stacy and I have situations arise at times. The biggest is when Stacy is trying to print music or notes for bible study. Computer, phone, Ipad. The timing never seems right, already in crisis mode, I do not have time for this, the more we force it the more of a mess it becomes and the longer it will take, that’s if things will even function.
A reboot becomes needed when the system sometimes has been running non stop for days and weeks, loading up with too much information from so many sources. Much of this information is not even needed, such as audio, graphics, photo images and just outright stuff it does not need in its system. My grandson and I run the Virtual Farming 2020 on my Ipad and at times without stopping and rebooting the audio becomes missing and we find ourselves trying to navigate through the task of producing crops in silence.
SLIDE 3 Black “reboot” Computer Screen
A reboot of the system will take extra time, we will have to stop and pause everything, it will take some extra time and effort, but most of the time everything will be up and running again the way it was designed, nerves are calmed, stress levels go down, it looks like we are going to be okay.
SLIDE 4 Blue “restart” Computer Screen
Many of us at one time have gotten the ever famous blue screen of death, panic sets in and our life seems to be put on hold until we can get the system restarted, a restart or reboot can be very difficult if we do not get the right help or true information needed to get up and running again.
A reboot is something needed when there is a malfunction in the system, it reaches a state where it does not know how to recover so it needs to halt itself or be halted by other means, it regathers information about the problems during this period, usually behind the scenes, by doing this this reboot the system starts from square one with the proper information and codes it needs to function at its best for what it was designed for.
SLIDE 5 Dark Blue “reboot” definition
Many of us are already making these same connections in our walk with the Lord Jesus, getting in overload, too much information that is not necessary and just bogging us down, information or graphics that damage our hearts and minds, information taken into our memory that deters us from being what God has called us to be, too long a period of just running and running without just shutting down and doing a reboot for our inner spirit and being.
If you having been looking at the reboot definition on the screen you have obviously noticed the words “start anew” / “refresh” / “making a new start” / “to make a fresh start”
synonyms for reboot are noted as “boot” / “bring up” / “resuscitate” / “revive”
SLIDE 6 Chains Broken and Anointing Pouring image
God desires so much to have these reboot experiences with as He reveals the information needed through the truth of His word, how much He loves us, what He has done for us through His son Jesus, breaking away hardness on our hearts, bringing us to brokenness before Him , ready for Jesus to reboot us and making a perfect opportunity for God to “Pour Down on Us” a fresh new anointing.
For those that experience these times of refreshing, it is simply summed up as a fresh new revelation of who we are in Christ Jesus, our true identity in Christ, many times this powerful experience and revelation results in the utmost humble state on our face before Jesus and the words we most surely tell Him “I just want to be Your servant”, In that humble state a status or title means nothing to us, God’s anointing and power flows through us as we love people through the heart of Jesus!
If the enemy can cloud our hearts and minds with whatever he needs then our identity in Christ gets challenged with lies, we waver, get distracted, become weak to sin, children hiding from our Father, fall into a luke warm state, faith get shaken, shame and a mindset of working our way back to the Father sets in, leaving the believer powerless in their true calling. God loves us so much and Jesus did everything for us so that we can stand in victory and walk and serve in His anointing. It is the enemy’s biggest fear for us to know this truth!
Do not feel you are the only one, Jesus’ early church in Galatia found themselves in this state. The Apostle Paul brought the remedy of the true gospel, crushed the enemy’s lies that had crept into the church and defended every case that true faith is in Christ alone and the power of His Holy Spirit.
Paul asked this opening question to the Galatian church
SLIDE 7 Galatians 1: 6
I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News
Overtime we become loaded up with other information from the world, and just as Paul goes on to write this church we can become fooled by twisted truth that is not Good News at all. He even ask them in chapter 3 who has cast an evil spell on you?
The number 1 tactic the enemy uses is to water us down from our first love relationship with Jesus, distract our freedom of walking in the Spirit, and having righteous by faith becomes luke warm, and then we find ourselves living the Christian life in our own efforts, trying to keep the law of God to obtain righteousness. (keep us at a distance)
Lets look at how Paul in chapter 3 verses 2-4 brilliantly ask this question describing what we just looked at.
SLIDE 8 Galatians 3: 2-4
2 Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. 3 How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? 4 Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it?
The enemy has a relentless tactic of bogging our spiritual hard drive down with with an evaluation system of “how much have I obeyed God” / “will His grace get me out of this mess this time” / “I gave into the temptation and sin being told oh well that’s why we have grace” / “now all God’s law and rules are just making me feel like a failure because I fail at trying to keep them” / “I have to good things to work my way back to the Lord” / “what’s the use, I’m just going through the motions of luke warmness and somehow things will change” / “I hope I am really saved and going to heaven when I die”
Church we need that Holy Spirit reboot, reset or restart with the simple truth of the Good News, our true identity in Christ gets re-revealed when Holy Spirit reveals how much He has done for us.
Paul through the Holy Spirit does a masterful job in Romans. I love this in chapter 3 verse 19 & 20
SLIDE 9 Romans 3: 19-20
19 Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God. 20 For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
Paul is writing in Romans to the Jew and Gentile believers, obviously their gospel had become watered down or distorted, they had started to judge others to make themselves feel better, Paul had even shared his own struggles battling the desires of the flesh over spirit.
Romans chapter 4 Paul lays down another truth for a reboot
SLIDE 10 Romans 4: 4-5
4 When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. 5 But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.
No matter what the spiritual battle is we are dealing with, the goal of the enemy is to keep us at a distance from God, he uses the value system of measuring up and the law becomes the standard every time.
Let’s get God’s word to drive this home for us!
SLIDE 11 Romans 5: 10-11
10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
This is so amazing right here, everyone lock into these verses with me!
SLIDE 12 Romans 5: 12-13
12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. 13 Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. But it was not counted as sin because there was not yet any law to break.
Abraham “friend of God” / “counted as righteous because he believed God” Did Abraham have the law of God? no Moses gave the law 430 years after Abraham. What was Abraham given? the promise Abraham was keeping the law already through a promised relationship. Said it simply “walking with God, His Spirit shows us the way in righteousness and we fulfill the law through a relationship with Him in Jesus. “Jesus was the promise”
Gets even better in these next verses let’s look
SLIDE 13 Romans 5: 14-15
14 Still, everyone died—from the time of Adam to the time of Moses—even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come. 15 But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.
SLIDE 14 Romans 5: 16-17
16 And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins. 17 For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.
SLIDE 15 Romans 5: 18-19
18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. 19 Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
SLIDE 16 Romans 5: 20-21
20 God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. 21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Did all this just reboot your faith? Your standing with God? Did this just clean all the junk and guilt weighing you down?
